Pyongyang, April 19 (KCNA) — Officials and workers in the agricultural sector of the DPRK are concentrating on reducing the drought damage to wheat and barley.
While focusing on securing water resources, Unryul, Unchon and Anak counties in South Hwanghae Province are watering a large area of fields every day by concentrating manpower and vehicles on the areas and units vulnerable to drought.
In Kangryong and Ongjin counties with a large area of wheat and barley fields are allocating sprinklers, mobile pumps and others in a rational way and timely resolving the problems, while ensuring full-capacity operation of irrigation facilities.
South Phyongan Province has taken measures to ensure the supply of spare parts and electric power necessary for the normal operation of pumping equipment, while making sure that technicians and skilled workers of county irrigation stations find themselves at farms to give technical assistance.
Farms in Taedong, Sukchon and Jungsan counties have increased their pumping capacity per hour by enhancing the responsibility and role of farmers in charge of the management of pumping stations and operating equipment as required by the standard rules.
Agricultural workers in Suan, Sohung and Yonthan counties of North Hwanghae Province are improving the growth of wheat and barley by using various nutrients.
Officials and agricultural workers in North Phyongan and North Hamgyong provinces and Nampho Municipality are directing efforts to minimizing damage to crops, while mobilizing all water transport means and pumping equipment and applying various irrigation methods.
