Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) — Farms across the DPRK have finished the first round of weeding of paddy fields.

The second round of weeding of paddy fields and the third round of weeding of maize fields are being pushed forward in real earnest.

South Hwanghae Province launched weeding maize fields while stepping up the second round of weeding of paddy fields by mobilizing all manpower and means.

Agricultural workers in Pyongyang Municipality and North Hwanghae Province have saved a lot of manpower by introducing rational weeding methods while weeding with herbicides.

Farms in South Phyongan and South Hamgyong provinces are raising the efficiency of weeding and improving the fertility of soil with various methods including the organic farming method by mud snails and the paddy-field fish breeding.

Agricultural workers in North Hamgyong Province and Kaesong Municipality are making effective use of herbicides and various kinds of small and medium-sized farm implements and taking measures to ensure the safe growth of crops.
