Scientific Research Achievements Made in DPRK

 

Pyongyang, January 22 (KCNA) — The Hamhung Branch of the State Academy of Sciences in the DPRK strives to make research successes conducive to developing the economy and improving the people’s living standard, according to Rodong Sinmun.

The Chemical Engineering Institute manufactured ion-exchange membrane with improved performance and is confirming the electrodialysis characteristics and operating conditions of the membrane through shakedown. The Vinalon Institute and the Organic Chemistry Institute are studying to develop a new anti-filtration film in an original way.

Coal Chemistry and Analysis Chemistry institutes completed the technical preparations for producing basic raw materials of the chemical industry with low-temperature brown coal tar. The Inorganic Chemistry Institute is making progress in establishing the technology of manufacturing electrodes for steelmaking with raw materials abundant in the country.

Several institutes are expanding and introducing advanced energy-saving sugar-concentration technology into regional-industry factories across the country, increasing the varieties of synthetic flavours and artificial colours needed for producing high-quality consumer goods and improving their quality.
