Pyongyang, February 22 (KCNA) — The Third Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held from April 23 to 29, 1956.
In his report on the work of the Party Central Committee at the congress, President Kim Il Sung comprehensively reviewed the arduous yet proud course of struggle covered by our Party and advanced important tasks for laying the foundations of socialism in our country in a short span of time and further strengthening the Party organizationally and ideologically.
The congress set it as a priority task of the first five-year plan (1957-1961) to finish the socialist transformation of the relations of production, lay the foundation for socialist industrialization and basically solve the problem of clothing, food and housing for the people.
The congress put forward it as the main task to eliminate dogmatism and formalism and establish the Juche orientation in the field of the Party ideological work and stressed the need to make the Party members have a clear understanding of the character and duty of the Korean revolution and its future prospect.
With the historic Third Congress of the WPK, which held high the banner of Juche and the banner of unity and solidarity, as an occasion, the Party building and its work entered the road of fresh development and the socialist revolution and construction made a more dynamic advance.
