Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) — Recently, unprecedented drought persists across the DPRK.

Working people across the country are concentrating all their efforts on protecting the preceding crops from drought.

Officials of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport, the Ministry of IT Industry, the State Commission of Science and Technology have turned out in a campaign to water large areas of farm fields every day by mobilizing water-delivery means at the farms under their charge.

The Ministry of Grain Administration, the Ministry of Mining Industry and the State Planning Commission have sent necessary farming materials, and the Ministry of Electric Power Industry is striving to supply electricity for the full-capacity operation of irrigation equipment.

Provinces, cities and counties are concentrating all efforts and means on the campaign for combating drought while further perfecting the irrigation system.

North and South Hwanghae provinces have monitored the state of pumping equipment and irrigation structures in real time and found out and remedied all the defects quickly, thus fully irrigating the wheat and barley fields.

Cities and counties are making responsible efforts to repair the floodgates of reservoirs and waterways, given the amount of water decreasing due to severe drought, in order to use water for the agricultural production without waste.

The agricultural workers are ensuring the safe growth of the earlier crops like wheat and barley while enhancing their resistance to drought by taking thoroughgoing agricultural and technical measures.
