Pinus Bungeana-Kaesong – Natural Monument of DPRK

 

Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) — Pinus bungeana-Kaesong is growing in Yongang-ri, Kaephung District of Kaesong Municipality, the DPRK, for more than 500 years.

The tree is about 18 meters in height, 4 meters in girth of root neck, 5.5 meters in girth of trunk and 21 meters in crown width.

The tree ramifies into four large branches at the height of over 2 meters, and their girths are about 1.8 meters respectively. The crown resembles an umbrella shape.

The tree is the oldest one in the DPRK and is of great scientific significance.
