Ranks of Medical Workers Reinforced in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) — The public health sector of the DPRK directs efforts to strengthening the ranks of medical workers both in quality and quantity, according to Rodong Sinmun.

Measures are being taken to improve the level of clinical technology and academic qualifications of medical workers at city and county hospitals.

The mobile treatment and education team was formed with medical workers of rich clinical experience and high qualifications from the Korea General Red Cross Hospital, Pyongyang University of Medicine Hospital, Kim Man Yu Hospital and other central-level hospitals. It now works at the Kangdong County Hospital, Kusong City Hospital and Ryonggang County Hospital.

The members of the team are directing efforts to the guidance and assistance for putting the management of hospitals on a more regular and standardized basis while intensifying the practical education for improving the clinical skills of local medical workers.

Passing-on technique is under way for medical workers of the new city and county hospitals to be built this year.

The Pyongyang General Hospital, Pyongyang University of Medicine Hospital and other central-level hospitals started the first technical workshop for at least 250 medical workers of city and county hospitals in March.

Medical workers of the central-level hospitals are conducting field medical service in major theaters of the national economy and, at the same time, focusing on technical lectures to improve the academic qualifications and clinical practice ability of medical workers in relevant areas.

Efforts are being made to reform the medical education system and improve the practical educational conditions of students so as to train competent and promising health professionals on a large scale.
