Pyongyang, April 23 (KCNA) — Pyongyang Municipality is directing efforts to the cultivation of medicinal herbs.

The Pyongyang Municipal Koryo Medicine Production Management Bureau set its stepwise plans to increase the resource of medicinal herbs by planting and cultivating more medicinal trees and herbs in the spring medicinal herb cultivation campaign and is actively pushing ahead with the work to carry them out.

The Ryokpho District Medicinal Herb Management Station has increased the areas and species of medicinal herbs and trees while strengthening their physiological activity and improving their nutritive conditions with various kinds of nutrients. Taking into account the soil and climatic conditions, the station strives to plant species of herbs in conformity with their biological characteristics.

The Hyongjesan District Medicinal Herb Management Station has planted dill, yew, hawthorn, Schisandra chinensis and other species of trees in keeping with technical requirements. It is also making its employees acquire the knowledge and common sense on medicinal herbs cultivation and manure.

The Rangnang District Medicinal Herb Management Station has taken measures to prevent damage by harmful insects after planting hundreds of medicinal trees suited to the regional characteristics.

Similar achievements have been made at the medicinal herb management stations in Ryongsong, Mangyongdae and Samsok districts.
