Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) — Kangwon Province is conducting a full-scale campaign to improve the appearance of the region.

This year the province dredged over 194,000 cubic meters of riverbed, reinforced the embankment of over 97,000 cubic meters and built over 100,000 square meters of retaining wall and carried out the technical remodeling of roads and repaired dwelling houses and public buildings in a qualitative way.

Anbyon and Chonnae counties carried out a huge amount of riverbed dredging and embankment projects and are eliminating flood-prone spots.

Phyonggang and Kimhwa counties expanded the width of roads as prescribed and improved their technical conditions including straightening the curved ones. Meanwhile, they planted trees of good species such as bamboo willow and zelkova trees to improve the appearance of the surrounding area.

Munchon City and Ichon County are conducting a mass campaign to increase the strength of roads and ensuring the durability and security of roads by building retaining walls and protection walls.

Wonsan City, Thongchon, Kosong and Kosan counties have repaired houses and public buildings in a responsible manner and planted various kinds of flower shrubs and turfs in parks and pleasure grounds to add beauty to the scenery.
