Swinging – Intangible Cultural Heritage

Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) — Swinging is one of the favourite folk games of Korean people.

In Korea, there was a custom in which village women gathered in the swinging site and played swinging until sunset on holidays.

Swinging was not only played by girls and young ladies, but also by middle-aged women.

Swinging was very popular in the period of the feudal Joson dynasty and developed into a large-scale game.

It was conducted in different forms including single and double swinging.

Swinging was registered as a national intangible cultural heritage in November 2015.
