Founding Anniversary of Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex Marked in DPRK

 

Pyongyang, April 22 (KCNA) — A meeting was held on April 21 to mark the 80th founding anniversary of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex.

Present there were Kim Tu Il, chief secretary of the North Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, and officials and employees of the complex.

Kim Son Guk, chief secretary of the Party Committee of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, made a commemorative report.

The reporter said that President Kim Il Sung visited the then Chongjin Iron Works in April 1946 and opened up a bright prospect for turning it into a comprehensive grand base of the metallurgical industry and energetically led the work to realize it.

Chairman Kim Jong Il set forth the task of establishing the Juche-based iron production system based on domestic fuel and raw materials and showed great loving care and benevolence for the workers of the complex while giving ceaseless field guidance at the complex, he said.

He referred to the fact that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un clearly indicated the orientation and ways for turning the complex into a Juche-based iron production base representing the metallurgical industry of the country.

He said that with the Party’s idea on Juche iron cherished as their faith, the workers, scientists and technicians successfully completed the projects including the building of a Korean-style energy-saving oxygen heat blast furnace and oxygen separators with the capacity of 15,000 cubic meters per hour.

He called upon all the officials, workers and technicians to fully demonstrate the mettle and practical ability of the complex in the struggle for implementing the decisions of the Ninth Congress of the WPK and the First Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the WPK.
