Techniques of Water-paint Woodblock Print – Intangible Cultural Heritage of DPRK

 

Pyongyang, April 9 (KCNA) — Among the DPRK’s intangible cultural heritage is a technique of water-paint woodblock print.

The print, created before the eighth century, is a form of woodblock print based on water paint.

This is based on the principle of depiction of Korean paintings, and it is clear, soft and smart in color.

Its technique includes original painting, engraving and printing method.

The water-paint woodblock print evokes diverse and delicate aesthetic feelings.

The technique of water-paint woodblock print was registered as national intangible cultural heritage in October 2017.
